Gottfried Helnwein Retrospective Exhibition
Albertina Museum, Vienna albertina.at/jart/prj3/alberti…

This exhibition will display about 200 works from 1969 to the present.

Exhibition opening: May 24th, 2013
closes: October 13th, 2013

"Well, the world is a haunted house, and Helnwein at times is our tour guide through it. Not all of Gottfried's work is on a canvas. A lot of it is the way he's approached life. And it doesn't take someone knowing him to know that. You take one look at the paintings and you say "this guy has been around." You can't sit in a closet - and create this. This level of work is earned. As an artist my strongest reaction to Helnwein's work is that it challenges me to be better at what I do. There are very few people that achieve utter excellence in what they do. And I think that Gottfried Helnwein is certainly one of those people."

The Museo Nacional de San Carlos (English: National Museum of San Carlos) is a Mexican national art museum devoted to European art, located in the Cuauhtémoc borough in Mexico City. The museum is housed in the Palacio del Conde de Buenavista, a neoclassical building at Puente de Alvarado No. 50, Colonia Tabacalera, Mexico City. It contains works by Lucas Cranach the Elder, Parmigianino, Frans Hals, Anthony Van Dyck, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Auguste Rodin and other well-known European painters and sculptors.

Here are the details if you can make it: www.helnwein.com/news/calendar…
